Form & Wandel
Art Objects by Lydia Setakis
Passion
What begins as a form created by nature continues as a process of transformation.
My work is about discovering what is already there and carefully bringing it into a new presence.
Each object carries its own rhythm, shaped through time, handcraft and attention.
The journey from a gourd to a finished lamp unfolds in many small steps — a quiet, sometimes surprising dialogue between material, movement and form.
Process
My work begins with listening.
Each piece grows from careful observation of material, proportion and balance. The form is not imposed but revealed step by step through handwork and time.
Irregularities remain. They are traces of touch, movement and transformation.
Material
I work with materials shaped by nature and time.
Each piece begins with what already exists — traces, irregularities and inherent strength. The material sets the rhythm and limits the form.
Nothing is concealed. Surface, structure and light remain visible, allowing the object to keep its own character.
Objects
Each object exists as an individual piece.
Not conceived as a series, but as a response to material, process and moment.
Some objects become lamps, others remain quiet forms. All of them carry presence, light or stillness — depending on what they are meant to hold.
